Passing several museums and monuments, this four mile loop combines both fitness and our nation’s history! Beat the heat and the crowds by heading out in the morning or evening.
2. Rock Creek Park
Rock Creek Park has an extensive trail system over its 1,754 acres. With miles of both paved and unpaved trails, this big city gem is a must-visit for runners.
3. Watergate Steps
A stone’s throw away from the Lincoln Memorial and overlooking the river, are forty concrete steps. Leading nowhere this “useless” staircase makes for one of the best stair workouts around town!
4. National Arboretum
If nature is your thing, this run is for you! From beautiful blooms in the spring and summer months, to fall foliage and holly in the winter, the National Arboretum grounds are open daily (excluding Christmas Day) from 8 am to 5 pm with free admission.
5. Capitol Hill
Known as one of the best (or worst) for hill training in Washington, DC, many runners take advantage of this “short and steep” hill for a more elevated run. Local tip: The Independence Avenue side has a higher grade and elevation gain!
